by Ann Withanee — July 18, 2011—Sargent Manufacturing Company, a market leader in locksets, exit devices, door closers, access control locks and related products, and an ASSA ABLOY Group company, announces the availability of the Degree patented key system. It offers three levels of cost-effective, flexible security for any facility.

The Degree system provides the right level of security for each opening in a facility, says Sargent. The new system offers patented protection from unauthorized key duplication through 2027, and all three levels are ANSI/BHMA Grade 1 certified, with Degree Level Three being certified to UL437 for high-security environments.

A common key for all three levels of security enhances key control and simplifies administrative procedures; construction master keying is available. Key blanks are controlled through authorized distribution, and keys are significantly stronger than those in competitive systems, states Sargent. Bump resistance is standard for all three Degree levels, and geographical protection is available.

Degree is available for mortise, rim, component and Large Format Interchangeable Core (LFIC) cylinders. The availability in all existing Sargent cylinder types provides a cost-effective upgrade for Sargent facilities. A new keyway family protects system integrity from legacy systems, and the user-friendly design with minimal components provides easy field service.
