by Shane Henson — April 1, 2013—SCS Global Services (SCS), a third-party certifier in the green building industry, recently announced its expanded business alliance with GreenWizard Inc., a Web-based platform that allows building professionals to find and manage manufacturer product data and documentation for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and green commercial construction.
LEED is a voluntary, consensus-based, market-driven program that provides third-party verification of green buildings. The alliance increases opportunities for architects, engineers, contractors and specifiers to locate and obtain their certified products for LEED building and renovation projects, says SCS.
“GreenWizard enables professionals to identify and evaluate products from a data-driven perspective and seamlessly collect documentation required to satisfy LEED,” said Stowe Hartridge-Beam, SCS’ director of environmental certification services. “It represents the future of product research for construction projects. Our partnership with Green Wizard ensures that SCS-certified products are available at the fingertips of architectural and design decision makers.”
SCS offers a complete range of environmental certifications for products and materials used in the green building construction, satisfying requirements for LEED and other programs. Examples include: recycled content certification; indoor air quality certification of furniture, finishes, and indoor building materials under the SCS Indoor Advantage and FloorScore programs.
Through trainings and improved data transfers, the business alliance will expand exposure of SCS-certified clients and products to the green design and green construction community, adding thousands of certified products to the database.
GreenWizard’s WORKflow Pro solution is now fully interoperable with LEEDOnline, allowing projects to go from product discovery, library creation, credit modeling, full product documentation, to seamless upload and integration with LEEDOnline. Once utilized by a design firm with a project, the platform automatically allocates product attributes to their relevant LEED credit categories, providing tremendous time savings for the industry, says the company.
Since 2010, the projects represented within GreenWizard’s workflow have grown from $500 million to more than $13 billion. SCS has likewise grown rapidly, tripling in size since 2007, and recognized for three years in a row among the Inc. Magazine Top 5000 Fastest Growing Companies.
