SDSU upgrades to AiM to better manage physical plant

by Shane Henson — June 27, 2011—AssetWorks, a provider of Enterprise Asset Management software solutions, announced that San Diego State University (SDSU) has upgraded its Computerized Maintenance Management System to AiM by AssetWorks. SDSU has managed their facilities with AssetWorks software solutions since 1999. Prior to using AiM, SDSU used FacilityFocus, the software’s predecessor.

AiM is a comprehensive Web-based management solution that lets organizations track expenditures, optimize workflow, and reduce the total cost of ownership of expensive assets. The modular suite of applications can be implemented together as an end-to-end solution or separated and introduced in stages. This software application also integrates with third-party systems, is mobile-ready, and provides extensive reporting and business intelligence tools.

The university’s physical plant department uses AiM to track maintenance activities and service more than five million square feet of building space spread across approximately 280 acres on the main campus. In 2009, the number of work requests submitted to the physical plant exceeded 21,000.
