by Shane Henson — February 27, 2013—Shaw Contract Group, a division of global carpet manufacturer Shaw Industries and a provider of commercial carpeting and hardwood defined not only by a great appearance, but also performance and sustainability, has released a new carpet tile collection called Material Matters.
Elements converge in the tile collection, which comes in both 24×24 and 18×36. Inspired by blurring the lines between hard form and imperceptible shape, iridescent striations wind through atmospheric patterns, whether smoky, luminous or solid, says Shaw. The 24×24 products, Embark and Wander are each offered in 12 colors. The 18×36 products, Fringe, Haze and Vapor, are each offered in 12 colors as well. Both products feature premium branded Eco Solution Q nylon with 45 percent recycled content, the company says.
According to the company, the collection was designed with the intent to be very tonal in color, while conveying a sense of malleability and movement. Material Matters features five coordinating styles that capture subtle reflective highlights of silver, gold and platinum. Influenced by the subdued geometry of folded pleats and linear ice, the blurred spaces between light and shadow, smoke and vapor, and organic patterns—the installed result is hazy, beautiful and richly mellow, said Reesie Duncan, creative director.
In addition to products within its Material Matters collection, facilities and office managers may also be interested the company’s many other carpet, hardwood, laminate, ceramic tile, area rugs and synthetic turf for commercial applications. Those wanting to purchase from a company committed to sustainability may find the company to be a good choice; according to Shaw, the company has recycled more carpet than all of its competitors combined since 2006.
