by Shane Henson — April 11, 2012—Johnson Controls Global WorkPlace Solutions (GWS), global provider of facilities, commercial real estate and energy management, has extended its contract providing high-quality facilities management services for Shell International at numerous sites around the world, now to include the Netherlands.
Per the extended contract, Johnson Controls GWS will provide workplace projects and FM services for four locations in the Netherlands, including the energy and petrochemicals company’s corporate headquarters in The Hague. The new two-year agreement also covers Shell’s portfolio of sites in Assen, Rijswijk, and Amsterdam, and includes a variety of buildings such as offices, chemical and geological laboratories, learning centers, research halls, workshops and their surrounding grounds. In total, Johnson Controls GWS will employ 130 people at the sites as mechanical and electrical technicians as well as administrators.
The new agreement builds on the services that Johnson Controls GWS provides to Shell Real Estate in the United States, Canada and Brazil, which includes technical facilities management and project management at a range of sites that house data centers, research and development centers, offices and laboratories.
Johnson Controls GWS also manages and maintains 11,000 of Shell’s fuel retail sites in 24 countries under an agreement that was signed in 2011. Recently that agreement was extended for a further two years until 2015. Johnson Controls GWS’ partnership with Shell began in 2005.
