by Rebecca Walker — May 29, 2009—Recognizing the increasing demand for networked video surveillance in business applications such as shops, small offices, or even homes, Siemens Building Technologies has introduced a new range of in- and outdoor IP color cameras.
This range of cameras supports simultaneous dual-streaming in MPEG4 and MJPEG, providing the capacity to determine the resolution and quality dependent on the receiving device, be it a digital video recorder, a PC or a 3G-enabled mobile phone.
The cameras, which can be wall- or ceiling-mounted, are easy to use, delivering clear video over long distances through advanced image processing and higher light sensitivity, says the company. The CCIC1410-LAW model also supports WLAN capability, making installation even easier by removing the need for additional network cabling.
Other features include motion detection (optimizing hard disk storage) and e-mail notification in the event of an alarm being triggered, allowing the current status of the business / home to be viewed remotely. A digital input and output allow connection of an external sensor and alarm.
Given the focus on small business applications, some models within the range include a privacy button which can be activated or deactivated by the administrator. If activated, business or home owners can easily stop video monitoring (confirmed via an LED indicator) during sensitive times or in sensitive areas.
