by Shane Henson — August 28, 2013—Facilities managers who would like to invest in a good modular sign system but are wary of doing so because of all the changes occurring in their facilities through staff increases, reorganizing and turnover may find that SignScape’s Contego Modular Sign System is able to meet their needs.
SignScape is a division of Wisconsin-based InPro, a manufacturer of door and wall protection, washroom systems and commercial surfaces, expansion joint systems, privacy systems and architectural signage.
“Modular signs have been around for a long time, but until now, changing them has been tedious or time-consuming,” said Mark Alan, senior vice president of product management and development at InPro Corporation. “Either that, or they’re too easy to change and easy prey for vandals.”
The key to Contego’s easy changeability is its Quick Pins, which can be unlocked with a flathead screwdriver to allow for easy reconfiguration of the sign within minutes. Contego’s Quick Pins are strategically placed out-of-sight on the aluminum frame to deter vandals as well as maintain a clean, uninterrupted appearance, the company says.
Facilities managers can use the signage system to easily convey both simple and complex information to visitors.

Contego is available in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, from simple door numbers to large, two-column directory signs. The system may be suitable for healthcare facilities, educational institutions, or any building constantly in a state of flux. It will help facilities and maintenance personnel keep pace with the changes, whether adding or relocating individual staffers or moving whole departments.
“Contego is another innovation that was born out of our obsession with protecting buildings, including their owners and users,” said Alan. “Change is inevitable, but that doesn’t mean it has to be painful.”
