by Brianna Crandall — May 25, 2011—Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority (BCA) has announced this year’s winners of numerous awards in conjunction with its recent inaugural Singapore Construction Productivity Week.
A record-breaking 261 awards were given out at this year’s BCA award ceremony for various award categories:
- Design Engineering Safety Excellence Awards (8)
- Construction Excellence Awards (28)
- Green Mark Awards (162), including 1 Green Mark Champion and 1 Green Mark Platinum Champion
- Green and Gracious Builder Awards (10)
- BCA-SGBC Green Building Individual Awards (4)
- Universal Design Awards for the Built Environment (13)
- Construction Productivity Awards (31)
- Built Environment Leadership Awards (3)
The first-ever BCA Green Mark Platinum Champion Award was accorded to private developer City Developments Limited (CDL). The Platinum Award recognizes leading developers and building owners for a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility, delivering at least 50 Green Mark projects of Gold or higher rating, including 15 Green Mark Platinum projects.
Prior to this win, CDL was also the sole winner of the inaugural BCA Green Mark Champion Award when it was launched in 2008. This time around, the Housing & Development Board (HDB) joins the list of leading exemplary green developers as BCA’s Green Mark Champion, delivering at least ten Green Mark projects of Gold or higher rating, including three Green Mark Platinum projects. HDB is the first public sector agency to receive this award.
