by AF 0317 h3 — March 19, 2010—Allsteel has reformulated its landscape surfaces to include soy resin, a move that reduces its environmental footprint even further. Allsteel has reformulated its Seaglass, Infinite Spectrum, and Pearlescent Strata Landscape surfaces to include at least seven percent soy-based resin in addition to recyclable polyester.
Using eco-friendly materials, the reformulation reflects Allsteels ongoing initiative to increase the bio-based content in its offerings, according to the company.
These three surfaces represent just a fraction of the eco-friendly materials the company recently introduced for its systems furniture and seating collections. Many Allsteel fabrics are already Cradle to Cradle Certified and contain Repreve, a yarn that uses a blend of at least 10 percent post-consumer recycled polyester and up to 90 percent pre-consumer recycled polyester. For every pound of Repreve thats produced, 50,000 BTUs of energy are conserved — the equivalent to almost half a gallon of gasoline.
