Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science, Miami, FL
Skanska signed a contract to complete the construction of the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science in Miami, Florida. The contract is worth $101 million, which will be included in order bookings for Skanska USA Building for the fourth quarter of 2014. The new 23,000-square meter Frost Museum of Science is located in Museum Park in downtown Miami, and will replace the existing museum that opened in 1960. The museum is targeting a LEED Platinum rating.
Boeing Commercial Airplane Decorative Paint Facility, Charleston, SC
Skanska signed a contract with The Boeing Company to build its Commercial Airplane Decorative Paint Facility in Charleston, South Carolina. The contract is worth $82 million. The project is a 375,000-square-foot facility used to paint Boeing’s 787 aircraft. The facility includes two paint bays, office towers, and mechanical and electrical rooms. The facility has an extensive MEP system to handle the airflow requirements for the paint process. Construction started in November 2014 and is expected to be completed in November 2016.
NYU Langone Medical Center, New York, NY
Skanska signed a contract with New York University’s (NYU) Langone Medical Center to build a new medical center in New York City. The contract, worth approximately $120 million, will be included in the order bookings for Skanska USA Building in the fourth quarter of 2014. Skanska will build a new 15,000-square-meter, five-story Ambulatory Care Center, which will include an emergency department, surgical and imaging suites, a pharmacy and physician office space. Pre-construction services have begun, and the project is estimated to be completed in October 2017.
