by AF 0104 D3 — January 6, 2010—American Industrial Systems, Inc. (AIS) has launched a RISC-based 10-inch Smart Digital Signboard featuring wireless connectivity, compact all-in-one design, high brightness display and bundled user-friendly content management software.

The AIS digital signboards deliver DVD-quality signage content in a compact frame can be placed anywhere. The compact unit integrates the media player, high brightness display, expandable local storage, and wireless network into a compact sleek housing, according to AIS, which specializes in designing and manufacturing cost-effective LCD and embedded computing products for the industrial market, as well as ODM/OEM applications worldwide.

In addition to the bundled software, the unit features SMIL Open Standard Architecture support and is also Scala Photo Frame Edition enabled, supporting Scala Networks and Content Management Software.

A combination of digital signage networks consisting of Scala PC players and AIS’s dedicated high definition and standard definition media player appliances can coexist to form a complete system of Scala-managed signage displays that can be deployed to suit project needs.

Since the power adapter cable is the only physical connection to the player, it’s easy to achieve a clean and professional presentation in tight spaces. The unit features built-in Wi-Fi for easy content management and updating without the need to run cables.
