Smartcool’s energy-saving technology chosen for 7-Eleven in the Philippines

by AF 1019b5 — October 21, 2009—Smartcool Systems Inc. has secured an order for its energy saving technology that will be implemented in 50 convenience stores for the 7-Eleven Corporation in the Philippine capital of Manila.

The business breakthrough was the result of a four-month trial program that produced energy savings of approximately 12 percent with a predicted payback of less than 24 months. The assessment phase of the project required Smartcool to work in conjunction with 7-Eleven’s engineering team. Data from Smartcool’s ECO3 technology in two locations was analyzed over a four-month period.

The project was initiated by the company’s Philippine distributor, Smartcool Phil Systems Inc., working in conjunction with Philippine Seven Corporation (PEC), which operates the 7-Eleven convenience store network in that country.

The ECO3 is specifically developed as an easily installed secondary controller for air conditioning and refrigeration systems. It provides extensive cost savings and environmental benefits by optimizing the energy efficiency of air conditioning and refrigeration systems with one or two compressors, says the company. These cooling units are found in millions of buildings worldwide, including most ordinary homes.
