by Shane Henson — February 13, 2012—Sodexo Inc., a leader in quality of daily life solutions, has launched a novel Sustainability Management and Reporting Tool (SMART) that gives schools, college campuses, health care facilities and corporations of all types the ability to better measure and improve their sustainability and wellness efforts. So far, 90 entities have taken advantage of the company’s newest software offering.
Piloted at 22 locations across the United States in 2011, SMART is Sodexo’s proprietary solution for driving sustainability performance at client sites. SMART is a comprehensive, yet easy-to-use dashboard that helps managers establish baseline sustainability performance, prioritize initiatives, and track continuous improvement in four key best practice areas: carbon and energy, water, waste, and healthy/sustainable food and environments.
Using SMART enables clients to analyze up to 150 separate actions that can improve measurable performance in each respective area. In addition, SMART allows clients to:
- Estimate energy use and the associated climate impact
- Review progress and trend data in either a summary dashboard or in a detailed layout
- View customized and specific recommendations for making immediate improvements
- Generate customized sustainability reports for internal and external presentation
