by Brianna Crandall — March 27, 2015—Sodexo, global provider of integrated facilities management (FM) and foodservice operations and other Quality of Life services, announced last week that it was selected as a prime contractor by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to support Department of Defense (DoD) medical facilities with operations and maintenance services worldwide.
The five-year Multiple Award Task Order Contract (MATOC) has a ceiling value of $198 million and it is anticipated that Sodexo will bid and execute multiple Task Orders under this contracting vehicle. The award follows Sodexo’s 2014 placement on the GSA Federal Supply Schedule FSC Group 03FAC for Facilities Management and Maintenance (GSA Schedule Contract GS-21F-060BA).
Sodexo oversees a global portfolio of nearly 700,000,000 square feet in FM operations. Health care, government, business, and education are among the diverse markets it serves. Sodexo is also ISO 55000 certified and operates at more than 9,000 client sites in North America, offering a comprehensive scope of technical services that include energy management services, facilities engineering with 24-hour maintenance and repair, and construction and project management.
“The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Operation and Maintenance Engineering Enhancement (OMEE) program represents nearly $1 billion in funds and is designed to support delivery of the best possible health care experience for patients served by the DoD medical community,” said Dave Scanlan, government services president, Sodexo.
“Our technical expertise and capabilities afforded us the privilege to enhance quality of life for millions of military members and their families at home and abroad, while also ensuring greater efficiencies in operations and maintenance.”
Through its Support Center in Huntsville, Alabama, and the OMEE program, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers offers support to a facility footprint of 24 million square feet of DoD medical facilities at more than 50 DoD installations.
The operations and maintenance services to be delivered include: scheduled and corrective maintenance, grounds maintenance, clinical housekeeping and pest management, and maintenance of biomedical equipment. The award is a new contract for the Sodexo Government Servicesdivision, marking the company’s planned expansion into the defense FM market.
