Sound Management Group, Quam-Nichols bring sound masking to 3CU offices

by Brianna Crandall — December 9, 2015—Sound Management Group and Quam-Nichols recently teamed up to bring enhanced sound masking to the offices of Third Coast Underwriters (3CU) in downtown Chicago.

As Sound Management Group explains it, “sound masking” is a method of introducing an electronically produced sound, evenly distributed throughout a space, to overwhelm sound that cannot be blocked or absorbed by any other means. Sound masking provides speech privacy, fewer distractions, and increased employee work productivity when properly engineered, installed and tuned, says the company.

Quam-Nichols’ MA/E8/S2/T1 690 CID Sound Masking Loudspeaker assembly consists of an 8C10PAX – 8″ O.D. dual cone loudspeaker with a 10 oz. magnet and a TBL70 – 4W-70V transformer.

3CU’s recent space addition was enhanced with Quam-Nichols’ Made in Chicago “Chicago-Approved” MA/E8/S2/T1 Sound Masking Loudspeaker paired with Sound Management Group’s Modular 70 Volt Sound Shadow Central rack-mounted system.

Adam Rett, manager of operations for Third Coast Underwriters, said:

Quam-Nichols speakers have been complementary to the productivity of our work environment, managing background office noise and preserving the confidentiality of our private meetings and conversation.
