by Brianna Crandall — May 29, 2017 — SPX Cooling Technologies, a full-line, full-service designer and manufacturer of evaporative and air-cooled heat exchangers, recently announced expanded model availability within the new Marley LW Fluid Cooler product line. The Marley LW Fluid Cooler is now provided in two smaller box sizes, 4×8 feet and 8×8 feet, broadening its versatility in a range of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) applications. Cooling capacities range from 18 to 107 nominal tons with flow ranges from 40 to 1200 gallons per minute.
The Marley LW is an induced-draft, counterflow fluid cooler. It is designed to address local code height restrictions while offering installation advantages, including one-piece assembly requiring only a single lift. With standard unit heights less than 10.5 feet, the Marley LW meets many code height requirements and offers advantages for rooftop installations where low visibility is important. Other significant installation advantages include single-point power connection, factory-installed controls, and factory wiring and testing.
Its closed-circuit design keeps the process fluid in a clean, closed loop. Copper heat transfer coils offer corrosion resistance and greater thermal efficiency, which contribute to the LW’s compact equipment size, lower weight and long service life. The copper coils are also bacteriostatic, recyclable and require less process fluid volume. Operational benefits include electronically commutated (EC) direct drive fans requiring no routine maintenance, a low-clog spray system, and multiple doors that allow access to interior components without tools.
According to SPX, the Marley LW Fluid Cooler is well-suited for HVAC applications, including water-source heat pumps for commercial buildings and multi-unit residential high-rises, water-cooled variable refrigerant flow (VRF) and skid-mounted systems. It is also an excellent fit for industrial applications such as compressor, machine jacket and special fluid cooling. The Marley LW Fluid Cooler is a viable option for specifications calling for heat rejection duties less than 200 tons, counterflow fluid coolers, outdoor forced-draft fluid cooler replacement, lower height or weight requirements, or redundancy restrictions as well, says the company.
The Marley LW Fluid Cooler is certified by the Cooling Technology Institute (CTI), notes SPX. For more information, visit the company’s Web site.
