by Brianna Crandall — February 12, 2014—STANLEY Security, a global security company specializing in K-12 security solutions, has announced the four winning schools of its $500,000 TOGETHER FOR SAFER SCHOOLS Grant Program. The grants will provide the facilities and security staff of the winning schools with STANLEY Security installed products and services to help ensure safer campuses.
The first-place winner and recipient of a $200,000 grant is Faith Christian Academy in Sellersville, PA, which received the most votes in the national contest for schools from Kindergarten to 12th grade (K-12). The three runners-up, each a winner of a $100,000 grant, are: South Pointe Elementary School in Miami Beach, FL; Montessori School of Dayton in Kettering, OH; and Pioneer Elementary School in Auburn, WA.
The TOGETHER FOR SAFER SCHOOLS Grant Program, established by STANLEY Security in 2013, offered U.S. schools the opportunity to receive security products and services through a half-million-dollar grant initiative. During the 45-day nomination period between September 13 and October 28 of 2013, nearly 1,000 schools were nominated from around the country, with at least one school represented from every state in the continental United States.
Once nominations were finalized, the voting process began and schools rallied their students, teachers and communities to encourage daily voting either online or by text message. Voting ended December 13, and STANLEY made presentations to officials from the winning schools on January 10.
STANLEY Security says it is currently working together with school officials from more than 10,000 schools nationwide to ensure that school safety is a top priority. For more information about the TOGETHER FOR SAFER SCHOOLS Grant Program, visit online or call 312/867-9177.
