Staples to help Duro-Last Roofing stay clean while going green

by Shane Henson — September 12, 2011—Staples Advantage, the business-to-business division of Staples Inc., was recently awarded a contract with Duro-Last Roofing Inc. to implement a company-wide environmentally preferable cleaning and breakroom products program.

According to Staples Advantage management, the program will help reduce Duro-Last’s impact on the environment through the use of environmentally preferable cleaning products and breakroom supplies. To lessen impact on the environment, Staples has developed alternatives to conventional paper and plastic cups, plates, bowls, cutlery, and cleaning supplies.

The Sustainable Earth by Staples products are considered environmentally preferable and meet rigorous environmental standards. They are made from renewable resources, recycled and/or compostable materials, and are recognized by third parties such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Design for the Environment (DfE) program, Green Seal, and the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI).

Facilities personnel seeking to help their companies go green or get greener in small and large ways may also benefit from using Staples Advantage’s services. Beyond reducing waste and allowing employees to breathe easier from the use of Sustainable Earth by Staples products, companies may also find the switch to more sustainable products is more cost-effective.
