Study reveals U.S. adults prefer businesses using green cleaning products

by Ann Withanee — April 29, 2011—In honor of Earth Month, Cintas Corporation recently commissioned a survey revealing that 84 percent of U.S. adults prefer to do business with a company that uses green cleaning products and practices. The telephone poll was conducted by Harris Interactive in March 2011 among more than 1,000 adults ages 18 and older.

The survey also discovered that many consumers have strong opinions regarding green cleaning. In fact, one in three adults (34 percent) strongly agree that they prefer to do business with companies that use green cleaning methodologies. Younger U.S. adults, ages 18-34, show the strongest preference as 47 percent strongly agree.

Ranked by Newsweek as a top 50 green company within its industry, Cintas prides itself on its sustainable cleaning approach to help businesses enhance their image, provide a healthy environment and satisfy customers. Many of Cintas’ cleaning products are Green Seal certified and meet the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Design for the Environment (DfE) program. In addition, its cleaning chemical dispensing platform delivers package-free concentrated products to reduce the amount of resources consumed and waste.

The survey was conducted by phone within the United States by Harris Interactive on behalf of Cintas from March 24-27, 2011, among 1,018 adults ages 18 and older. Results were weighted to reflect the U.S. adult population.
