by Shane Henson — November 30, 2012—New Jersey-based seating manufacturer Stylex is hoping that its newest version of the Zephyr chair will impress facilities managers and other buyers of office furniture even more than the one it introduced more than a decade ago.

Designed by Sava Cvek, Stylex’s Zephyr chair debuted in 2000, at which time it won a NeoCon Gold Award. The line became an instant classic as the industry’s first stacking chair with both a mesh seat and back, the company says. Now, Stylex has reinvigorated Zephyr with a second-generation solution that incorporates an upholstered seat. The new version will maintain Cvek’s signature contoured frame design and flexible, high-comfort mesh back while offering specifiers a greater range of expression and adaptability.

Zephyr is available in arm and armless models that stack as many as 18 high on the dolly. Counter and bar-height stools are also available. The cast aluminum and tubular steel structure is designed to handle the rigors of daily use and stacking with style. Also, the ability to vary the mesh tensioning over both the seat and back components provides an extra measure of comfort, Stylex says.

Zephyr is a sustainable stacker whose steel, aluminum, and plastic components can be easily disassembled for recycling. And, like all of the company’s products, the chair meets GREENGUARD Children and Schools and Indoor Air Quality certification, adds Stylex.
