by Shane Henson — January 10, 2014—Global architectural firm Perkins+Will is demonstrating that it is just as passionate about making its buildings as beautiful and sustainable as those of the many clients it serves worldwide. The company recently announced that its new San Francisco office, already praised for being net zero, will be graced with SunBeamer intelligent skylights by SunCentral.
The SunBeamer is a breakthrough premium state-of-the-art system that brings full spectrum sunlight to the interiors of buildings at an affordable price. Using a sophisticated array of mirrors, the SunBeamer continually tracks the sun and provides beams of sunlight to desired locations.
According to SunCentral, the SunBeamer tracks the sun autonomously, maintaining a stationary, collimated beam of light throughout the day. This innovative product is used in skylights, atria and with tubular devices to deliver glare-free, full spectrum sunlight to previously inaccessible areas. It is also the tracking component of the SunCentral System.
The Perkins+Will San Francisco office has a distinguished history and portfolio of diverse, award-winning architecture. SunCentral’s SunBeamers will be installed as intelligent skylights, delivering full-spectrum sunlight into the core of the building, providing a brighter, more enjoyable experience for staff, says Perkins+Will.
“SunCentral’s SunBeamers will revolutionize skylight-driven daylighting,” says Peter Busby of Perkins+Will. “The SunBeamers give us the freedom to bring sunlight into areas of our buildings that we never thought possible.”
SunCentral is a major supplier of premium lighting and sunlighting products for retail, healthcare, office and education facilities. Formed in 2008, SunCentral has offices in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Santa Clara, and Vancouver, BC.
