Surfwares new TrueMill technology improves efficiency of tools

April 4, 2005—Surfware, Inc., developer of SURFCAM CAD/CAM Systems, is introducing TrueMill, a patent-pending tool path technology. TrueMills tool path engine precisely controls a tool’s engagement with the material, enabling the use of much more aggressive machining parameters, which in turn results in significantly reduced cycle times, according to the company.

The toolpaths produced by TrueMill are completely free from spikes or sudden changes in tool load, the company says. Thus, machining parameters such as spindle speed, feed rate, depth-of-cut, and stepover can be used in combinations that would result in material damage or tool breakage if used with existing tool path generators.

Surfware, Inc. is the manufacturer of SURFCAM CAD/CAM software built for PC computers. Machine shops worldwide use SURFCAM for 2D and 3D mechanical design, surface modeling, reverse engineering, prototyping, mold-making, pattern-making and production machining.
