by Brianna Crandall — September 4, 2013—As we approach flu season, a flu and germ survey is being conducted to ascertain how facilities professionals are preparing to combat germs and sickness in the workplace in order to help prevent missed work days and the resulting loss of productivity. Although facilities managers do not deal directly with employees’ health habits, there is a lot they can do to make the office environment healthier, including educating employees about ways influenza and other illnesses are spread in the workplace, and promoting cleaning and behavioral practices that can help prevent sickness and its effects.
Participation is being solicited for the Flu and Germ Survey—Fall 2013 from now until the middle of September. The survey is expected to take only about 10 minutes, and answers will remain anonymous. Survey participants will have the advantage of receiving a copy of a white paper on health and wellness incorporating the results from the survey before they are released to the public.
The results of the flu survey, sponsored by a company that services the facilities management industry, will be published later this year. Any questions about the survey can be directed to Michele Moore.
