by Rebecca Walker — September 14, 2009—Sustainable Energy Technologies Ltd. announced that its PARALEX solar rooftop power system will provide electricity to the Strathcona-Tweedsmuir School in Calgary, Alberta, with support from ENMAX Energy. The PARALEX system will be a critical component in the installation, which includes 100 solar panels covering 8,000 square feet of rooftop, says the company.
The Strathcona-Tweedsmuir project will demonstrate the performance of two different solar power system architectures and compare the results to determine which yields the maximum energy output. The PARALEX system also incorporates an additional low voltage inverter to ensure public safety.
The technology is ideally suited for schools and community centers due to its inherently safe, low-voltage design, notes Sustainable Energy Technologies.
“This is a large installation for Alberta and part of a fundamental shift in how power is generated in our province and our country,” explained Gary Holden, President and CEO of ENMAX Corporation.
