by AF 0527c5 — June 1, 2009—Onset Computer Corporation, a leading supplier of data loggers, announces that it has received a large order from TAC, the energy solutions division of Schneider Electric, for its HOBO U30 energy monitoring systems.
The systems, which will be used as part of an investment-grade energy audit (IGA) of several buildings at a North Carolina university, will collect detailed building performance data around-the-clock for the duration of the IGA and during construction.
Specifically, TAC will use the equipment to measure and record demand data from 10 buildings during the audit, which are served by a master meter. The collected data will be used to compare building demand peaks to the master meter peak demand.
The data logging systems will allow TAC to determine if the buildings being audited are all peaking at the same time as the master meter, and to help verify energy demand savings that TAC has guaranteed in its energy performance contract with the university. If not, according to TAC, it will need to make adjustments to its demand savings figures.
Various types of campus buildings will be monitored, including classroom buildings, a laboratory, and a gymnasium. The systems are expected to be installed in June 2009 and will log kilowatt data every 15 minutes for the duration of the IGA.
