Teknion earns sustainability recognition from University of Ottawa

by AF 1208 f3 — December 11, 2009—Teknion Corporation announced that it is one of only three companies to be honored recently in this year’s Sustainability Recognition Awards sponsored by the University of Ottawa.

“Whatever accomplishments, whatever success, whatever we do to make our campus more sustainable, we do it with the help of our partners,” said Jonathan Rausseo, Sustainable Development Manager at the University of Ottawa.

“Aside from having LEED Accredited professionals on staff and products that meet LEED standards, Teknion actively engages in coaching their clients about various environmental standards and products,” added Rausseo. “They even go one step further and have their own environmental charter. Taking this social dimension of sustainability and making it a part of their business as usual’ is what makes a good partner great.”

Xerox Canada Ltd. and The Computer Media Group also received Sustainability Recognition Awards.

“For Teknion, it is not just about selling furniture,” said Scott Deugo, Senior Vice President, Design, Marketing and Sustainable Development. “We realize that the only way we, as an organization, can successfully advance our own sustainability initiatives is to partner with others, to learn from them and, in turn, share our expertise. Teknion’s commitment to sustainability is collaboration between our suppliers, our employees and our customers. We are honored to receive this Sustainability Recognition Award, and look forward to continuing our relationship with the University of Ottawa for the benefit of the environment.”
