by Brianna Crandall — April 5, 2013—Teknion Europe recently announced the launch of several major new additions to its European contract furnishings offerings. The new products are designed to respond to increasingly international workplace trends, support mobility and technology. The product launch, which took place in the Museum of London, is reportedly Teknion’s most extensive and diverse introduction of products to the European market to date.
Among the products designed to address the emerging needs of today’s workers and workplaces are the Interpret contemporary desking system, Sidewise compact casegoods workstation, CLUBtalk collaborative technology, RBT task chair, Projek task seating family and Versity soft seating.
Interpret is a contemporary desking system designed to work for virtually any person, any task, anywhere in the world. Based on a core platform frame and concise set of components, Interpret is a single product that can be built in many variations to address numerous workplace needs and planning configurations. Multiple design and development groups from around the world, including Teknion’s European headquarters in London, were challenged to create a single worldwide product line. Interpret is the result.
Sidewise is a new style of compact, collaborative casegoods workstation. Sidewise was created to answer a key workplace need for temporary gathering spaces in between open workstation settings and the traditional meeting room and the private office. Today’s shift in the office towards more open-plan environments with increased collective work means addressing the unique needs of smaller, less formal spaces, notes Teknion. Sidewise is suitable for one to three permanent, resident workers, or mobile, non-resident workers.
CLUBtalk was designed to integrate people, technology and furniture to afford more opportunities for effective collaboration. It consists of a cart, table and technology that provide electronic interconnectivity among meeting participants. CLUBtalk enables people to send data from their laptop or other mobile device to a larger display that provides real-time visibility to those who are present and those at a distance. It reportedly distills all the functionality of a conference room supplied with advanced technology support into a simple, mobile unit.
RBT is an innovative, new synchro-tilt task chair that is both visually and functionally unique. It incorporates patented breakthrough responsive back technology that Teknion says represents an evolutionary leap in task seating design, delivering superior fit, comfort and support for people of varying shapes and sizes. RBT is a fully featured, upholstered synchro-tilt task chair with active and passive adjustments.
Projek is a new family of seating products including a high-back task chair, swivel stool and cantilevered guest chair with mesh back and upholstered seat. Projek addresses a market need to have a project chair that is next generation with a mesh back and a modest and neutral style, and that is easy to use, environmentally conscious and meets a mid-range price point.
Versity is a visually and ergonomically appealing range of single-, double- and triple-seater sofas and complementary tables designed by David Fox. Tree branches and organic curves inspired Versity’s design; its angled sides create a warming invitation to the user, says Teknion. The die-cast aluminum leg detail reportedly offers an engineered, almost architectural appearance. “Its reflective, polished nature draws emphasis to the sweeping curves and tapered stiletto-like aesthetic,” says Fox, describing the leg detail. Versity soft seating is available upholstered in fabric, leather and COM.
“Many of these new products that we are unveiling were very successfully previewed this past NeoCon in America, with Interpret and Sidewise receiving prestigious Best of NeoCon awards,” said Terry McAllister, President, International Markets. “As workplace trends around the world—shrinking individual workstation size, more space devoted to communal activities, increased worker mobility and new technology—become more international in scope, we are excited to bring Teknion’s innovative responses to Europe.”
