Tennant Company partners with Minnesota Twins for strategic cleaning solutions

by Brianna Crandall — August 18, 2014—Tennant Company, designer and manufacturer of surface-maintaining equipment used around the world, has been named strategic cleaning partner for Major League Baseball’s Minnesota Twins at the team’s 39,021-seat Target Field ballpark. Tennant is expanding the partnership with its “hometown team” to further the team’s commitment to water conservation and environmental sustainability.

More than a dozen Tennant cleaning machines will now be used to help keep the open-air ballpark cleaner, safer and healthier for employees and fans. Tennant equipment will be used to help the Minnesota Twins reduce the total cost to clean, maintain environmental health and safety, enhance the facility’s image, and support the team’s commitment to sustainability.

Less than two years after being named the Greenest Ballpark in America and earning LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certification for new construction, the Twins were also the first professional sports franchise to attain LEED Silver Certification for the operation and maintenance of their facility. It is said to be one of only two LEED-certified professional sports stadiums in the United States.

Tennant and the Minnesota Twins worked together to identify the best solutions for the ballpark’s specialized needs, with a focus on efficiency, cost effectiveness and sustainability. Tennant says its products are designed to improve facilities maintenance productivity and deliver high-performance cleaning with a lower environmental footprint, and to handle the large-scale needs of the sporting events at venues like Target Field.

Tennant products offer the Minnesota Twins a comprehensive cleaning portfolio to clean the stadium inside and out. According to Tennant, the products being used include: powerful sweepers that provide excellent indoor and outdoor sweeping performance with optimized dust control; ride-on and walk-behind scrubbers that clean up to three times longer than conventional scrubbing and use up to 70 percent less water with the innovative ec-H2O technology; Orbio Multi-Surface Cleaning Solution, generated on-site with the Orbio 5000-Sc engineered by Tennant; and carpet extractors that provide fresh, clean carpets in minutes to reduce room and carpet area shutdown times.
