by Shane Henson — November 4, 2011—Building Products News (BPN) magazine recently held the BPN Sustainability Awards, its fifth annual awards ceremony created to honor leading Australian designers, builders and manufacturers working in the green building industry.

  • The Public Building and Urban Design award went to one40william by HASSEL.
  • The Office Fit-Out award went to AECOM Brisbane Workplace by BVN Architecture.
  • The Landscape Design award went to Bremer State High School by Blackburne Jackson Design.
  • The Large Commercial building award went to Pixel by studio505.
  • The Small Commercial building award went to Sydney Harbour YHA by Tzannes Associates.

The Pixel Building, designed by studio505 in Melbourne, was named the Best of the Best at this year’s BPN Sustainability Awards. Jurors praised the prototype carbon-neutral office building for contributing to the education and learning process in the building industry. “The project is a very valuable addition to the city and illustrates the possibilities of future large-scale CBD [central business district] office buildings,” said judge and principal of BVN Architecture Bill Dowzer.

Winners of the Awards were announced at a gala dinner in Sydney in October, and will be published in a winners edition of BPN Magazine in December.
