by Shane Henson — April 24, 2013—THRIVE Intelligence has taken video surveillance to a new level for hospitals and schools with the introduction of an end-to-end video surveillance solution that combines leading-edge video analytics with real-time, event-based monitoring by security intervention specialists at THRIVE’s national command center in Dallas, Texas. The company unveiled its specialized security offerings at the recent ISC West security show in Las Vegas.
Hospitals and schools are supposed to be safe havens, but the sad reality is that in recent years both have seen increasing and ever more shocking levels of violence, says Rick Cook, THRIVE’s executive vice president of sales. According to Cook, for less than the average salary of one guard, through the service THRIVE is now able to protect a hospital or school with 100 cameras and 24/7/365 video monitoring to keep both hospitals and schools safer.
As part of the service, THRIVE assesses each facility to customize protocols that define events and responses most appropriate to the environment. For example, education protocols may include after-hours presence detection, facilities protection, appear/disappear detection for the gym, cafeteria, and auditorium, admittance to authorized access-only areas, and more.
THRIVE Intelligence typically provides:
- A virtual guard to allow on-site security personnel the freedom to patrol and actively assist;
- Real-time detection and first responder dispatch (as necessary) upon unauthorized intrusion;
- Video escort and two-way audio intervention for immediate alert and response;
- Monitoring of restricted movement and special needs patients and students; and
- Cost-effective retrofit of existing Internet protocol (IP) or analog cameras or custom hardware and service packages.
