by AF 0330 f5 — April 2, 2010—Tomra of North America, a wholly owned subsidiary of Tomra Systems ASA and a leading global provider of advanced recycling solutions, announced that Yale-New Haven Hospital will deploy its wave of UNO reverse vending machines (RVMs) in the hospital to collect and sort used beverage containers.

Each day, the hospital generates hundreds of used plastic and aluminum beverage containers, and the machines will be placed strategically throughout the facility to capture recyclables from patients, staff and visitors.

RVMs, which look much like conventional vending machines, automate the process of collecting and sorting recyclables. RVMs are user friendly, sanitary and compact, and are appropriate for high-traffic areas. In facilities with extensive consumer foot traffic, UNO machines can be configured to reward recyclers with coupons or other promotions that can be tied to local retailers or community organizations. In addition, the machines themselves can act as a vehicle for billboard-quality advertising to promote an organization, product or service.
