Franchise Direct is known for using objective and measurable criteria to evaluate thousands of global franchises.
The Top 100 Global Franchises are ranked based on gathered data, including the company’s history, market expansion, stability and growth, revenue, and system size based on number of units. Franchise Direct also takes into account the corporation’s use of best practices in the areas of franchisee support and training, environmental policies, and social responsibility, as gathered from various public documents.
While the list is not meant to be definitive or to endorse any particular company, it provides useful information about the state of the franchising industry and showcases global franchises that have solid business plans, a sense of environmental and social responsibility, and stable growth.
FranchiseDirect.com adds that the Top 100 Global Franchises thus serve as models for early-stage franchises looking to expand, as well as those companies considering the benefits of the franchise business model.

An article in the March 2015 issue of the Building Services Management newsletter points out that cleaning franchises account for 10 percent of the Top 100 franchises, and comprise the second-largest industry represented on the list.
BSM notes that cleaning-based franchises are particularly attractive to entrepreneurs, as this industry has historically presented a lower barrier of entry. BSM notes that cleaning franchise segments also include dry cleaners, carpet cleaners, upholstery cleaners, coin laundries, window washers, and junk removers.
The cleaning franchises on the 2015 Top 100 Global Franchises list are: JAN-PRO Cleaning Systems (#26), Jani-King (#28), Chem-Dry (#40), ServiceMaster Clean (#45), Vanguard Cleaning Systems (#49), Coverall (#56), Molly Maid (#64), Merry Maids (#68), 5àSec (#87), and Martinizing Dry Cleaning (#91).
