by Ann Withanee — December 15, 2010—Trendway Corporation announced that its Pack Collection, Choices and Contrada panel systems, all Trendway filing and storage products, TrendWall Flooring Solution, TrendWall and TrendWall Clear have achieved Indoor Advantage Gold indoor air quality certification from SCS (Scientific Certification Systems).

“Our customers can complete their entire work environment with certified products,” noted Trendway President and CEO Bill Bundy. “Our standard panel systems, frame and tile solutions, movable walls, files and storage, laminate freestanding casegoods and seating are all Indoor Advantage certified, and all are supported by Trendway’s exceptional service.”

A key component of a healthy building is high indoor air quality. SCS Indoor Advantage Gold certification requires that products fall within the toughest limits for indoor emissions of air pollutants. Based on peer-reviewed science, SCS’s Indoor Advantage Gold ensures full compliance with California Section 01350, North America’s strictest indoor air emission criterion. This ensures that certified products contribute to a safer and healthier indoor environment in commercial buildings such as offices and schools.

The certification demonstrates conformance with the emissions standards of BIFMA, Indoor Air Quality emissions criteria for LEED building projects. Certified low-emitting furnishings contribute to LEED-CI IEQ credits toward LEED project certification. Credit 4.5 awards points for using office furniture products that have been manufactured with low emitting materials.

SCS Indoor Advantage certification is administered by the independent third-party certifier SCS of Emeryville, California. The certification relies on data collected through small chamber testing, which allows manufacturers to examine a product’s individual components to aid in further product development.
