by Rebecca Walker — Februaray 4, 2011—Businesses that wish to buy green products and services, but are confused by the latest jargon will be able to make more informed judgments following the introduction of new government advertising guidelines in the U.K.
Defra, the Department for Environmental Food and Rural Affairs, is introducing “Green Claims Guidance” to help businesses describe the environmental credentials of their products.
The guidance encourages businesses that offer green products and services to ensure that that their environmental claims are relevant and clearly presented, and that that can be substantiated. To complement the guidance, a summary “quick guide” gives a brief overview of the key aspects of a good environmental claim and links to the pages of the full Green Claims Guidance for more detailed principles and examples.
For more information, or to download the guide, see the Defra Web site.
