by jbs041710 a3 — April 19, 2010—A partnership partly funded by the U.K. government between BSRIA Instrument Solutions and the London South Bank University (LSBU) has focused on the development and application of Laser Doppler Anemometry (LDA) to measure airflow in buildings. The business/higher education partnership is said to yeild both commercial and academic benefits.
BSRIA Instrument Solutions is offering measurement services to the building services and construction industries, and the LDA appears to have great potential as a non-intrusive and super-accurate method of measuring airflow within a building.
BSRIA says the results are extremely promising not only for the original purpose but also in other fields of measurement and in performance prediction when allied with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The LDA reportedly helps turn CFD data predictions into real life measurements, with “sometimes remarkable” results.
