U.K.’s Waitrose Supermarkets renew maintenance contract with Emprise Services

by Ann Withanee — December 1, 2010—Waitrose Supermarkets, a U.K. chain, has renewed its contract with Emprise Services. The contract renewal and two-year extension is with MML (Maintenance Management Limited), which procures services on behalf of Waitrose, and the start date is February 2011. MML took over the procurement of support services contracts for John Lewis in 2003 and Waitrose in 2006, according to the company.

Waitrose is Emprise’s longest client relationship, continuing for more than 45 years, according to Emprise. The extension will include warehouse cleaning.

Emprise now delivers cleaning services to the entire Waitrose portfolio—244 stores by the end of 2010. More than 1,300 Emprise employees are involved in the contract, which includes early morning and periodic cleaning, window cleaning and ongoing janitorial services.

Emprise also provides a range of complementary specialist services including reactive works, deep cleans, jet-washing and builders cleans, which smooth the transition between construction and opening of a new store.

Emprise was first chosen by Waitrose in 1961 to clean a Waitrose store in Dorking, Surrey. Emprise also has cleaning contracts for 13 John Lewis stores and distribution centers, as well as the company’s head office.
