by Shane Henson — October 12, 2012—Staffordshire University has partnered with the U.K.’s Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC) and other organizations to launch a Web site that allows colleges, universities and sector-service providers to share best practices, knowledge and resources on sustainability.
The online resource, called the Sustainability Exchange, will contain community forums, news feeds, an events diary, best practice guides, toolkits, reports, research, Webinars and videos that will all provide a place for colleagues in different institutions to interact and share their sustainability experiences, says the EAUC.
The EAUC hopes that the Sustainability Exchange will make it easier for organizations to develop and enhance their own sustainability programs, and then share what they have learned with others through the Web site.
“Many of the further- and higher-education institutions across the country have formed their own sustainability programs, but weren’t actively sharing the information they had built up over time or didn’t know where to go to obtain certain information,” says Iain Patton, chief executive of the EAUC. “We saw an excellent opportunity to bring together the extensive knowledge and vast number of resources into one place, to save time and unite professionals and organizations on the critical management of sustainability.”
