by Brianna Crandall — June 3, 2011—Carmanah Technologies Corporation, based in Victoria, British Columbia, has announced the sale of its EverGEN 1710 solar-powered lights to a U.S. federal government parking lot facility located in the Midwest, in a project worth almost $400,000. The project was developed by Carmanah lighting agent Michigan Lighting Systems, East.

This deal marks the second installation by the agency using EverGEN 1710 off-grid solar lights for a parking lot installation. Carmanah says the Midwestern installation demonstrates that solar-powered lighting technology can be implemented anywhere in North America.

The installation took advantage of the Advanced Occupancy Sensing (AOS) feature of the EverGEN 1710, which maximizes lumen output potential for this geographic area. The AOS feature also matches the output of light with actual traffic patterns and requirements for light by users in the parking lot.

EverGEN 1710 features include: typical lumen range 2,000-9,000 (dependent on location and operating profile); BetaLED, LEDway and THE EDGE fixture options: direct, side and integrated arm mount options; up to two fixtures per unit; and 63 different operating profiles.

According to Carmanah, the solar panel and batteries for EverGEN1710 lights are combined into a single enclosure, and installation takes 30 minutes or less. The product is backed by certified photometric reports per IESNA LM-79, with lumen depreciation performance data based on IESNA LM-80 test methods; is RoHS compliant, with completely recyclable batteries and components; and includes a five-year warranty.
