May 26, 2004—The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA), the state organization that owns and operates the John B. Hynes Veterans Memorial Convention Center, the Springfield Civic Center and the soon-to-open Boston Convention and Exposition Center (BCEC), has awarded UNICCO Service Company a $3 million three-plus-three-year contract to provide janitorial and meeting setup services. The value of the contract could increase as additional tradeshows are booked into the facilities.
Under the contract, UNICCO will provide janitorial services, including day and night cleaning, for almost 2 million square feet of floor space at the two facilities, including exhibition space, ballrooms and meeting rooms. In addition, UNICCO staff will setup furniture for meetings, receptions and other events.
“UNICCO is uniquely qualified to service these high-profile MCCA properties,” commented John Correia, UNICCO vice president, New England Operations. “We have tremendous experience with Boston area public venues, including convention centers, museums and stadiums, so we know how to meet the flexible staffing requirements that event-driven facilities demand. We also have special services teams for post-construction cleaning, emergency cleaning or repairs that can handle any contingency that might arise.”
