by Shane Henson — June 7, 2013—Unisource Worldwide, a global provider of comprehensive customer solutions including facility supplies and equipment, showcased its new proprietary Green Gauge Sustainable Cleaning Product Purchases reporting tool at the 2013 Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) National Conference and Expo held in June in Vancouver, British Columbia.
Green Gauge substantially shortens the time it takes to prepare and submit reports on purchases of sustainable cleaning products and materials at all of a user’s facilities, according to Unisource Worldwide. The tool analyzes users’ purchase history and tracks sustainable cleaning product purchases that support their LEED-EB:OM (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design—Existing Buildings: Operations and Maintenance) goals. It also provides a quick and easy method to submit users’ IEQc3.3 spend report.
LEED is a framework created by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) that helps building owners and operators to identify and implement practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions. The LEED-EB:OM rating system encourages owners and operators of existing buildings to implement sustainable practices and reduce the environmental impacts of their buildings, while addressing the major aspects of ongoing building operations, which includes sustainable purchasing policies.
“Customers across North America have raved about the time savings they’ve realized by using the Green Gauge to track their purchases of sustainable cleaning products for LEED reporting purposes,” says Andrew Gustyn, Unisource’s director of sustainability, North America.
