USGBC approves second BOMI course on building systems

by AF 0922 h3 — September 25, 2009 The Building Owners and Managers Institute (BOMI) has announced that the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) has approved BOMI’s The Design, Operation and Maintenance of Building Systems, Part I (Design I). This is the second BOMI course that USGBC has endorsed.

The first course, Energy Management and Controls, received USGBC approval in August. As an approved USGBC Education Provider, BOMI is a third-party organization that offers peer-reviewed classes accepted by USGBC for credentialing maintenance requirements.

Design I provides information that property and facility managers need to manage the ongoing operation and maintenance of building systems and to maximize building efficiency and cost-effectiveness. The course provides information about building design and construction, project delivery, construction materials, and HVAC (heating, ventilating, and air-conditioning) systems. Other areas of interest that are covered in this course include roofing systems, ceilings and floorings, interior walls, and plumbing systems.

For further information about registering for a course online or in your area, visit the BOMI Web site.
