USGBC offers free LEED training to select colleges, universities

by Jbs082910 f3 — September 1, 2010—The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) recently announced that it is offering free access to LEED 101: Green Building Basics and LEED, an introductory online training course, to signatories of the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment, Title III and Title V schools (through Second Nature), and institutions of higher education that are USGBC member organizations.

The course provides an overview of sustainable building, including the environmental imperatives driving the building industry, the integrated design process, and the role of USGBC and the LEED Rating System. It explains the intent of each LEED Credit Category, identifying best practices, related key terms and concepts, regulations and incentives, and concepts in practice.

School administrators should send a request with the name of their school, type of institution (ACUPCC Signatory, Title III or Title V, or USGBC Higher Education Member) and the expected number of participants to greencampus@usgbc.org.
