by jbs012010 d3 — January 22, 2010—Second Nature, a nonprofit organization advancing sustainability in the higher education sector, has partnered with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) to provide the Green Building Basics and LEED online course at a 35 percent discount to under-resourced colleges and universities.
This introductory course provides an overview of sustainable building and the LEED rating system. It explains the intent of each LEED credit category, identifying best practices, related key terms and concepts, regulations and incentives, and concepts in practice.
The U.S. Green Building Council is offering the discount with the hope that students will be able to take the benefits of green buildings back to their communities. School administrators that are interested in this program should send a request with the name of their school and the expected number of students to education@usgbc.org.
