Verdantix report: Corporate water strategies vary dramatically

by Brianna Crandall — February 29, 2012—U.K.-based Verdantix, an independent analyst firm that provides authoritative data, analysis and advice to help its clients succeed in the world of sustainable business, recently released a report analyzing the increasing visible issue of corporate water management.

For The State Of Global Corporate Water Strategies, Verdantix surveyed 100 senior executives in firms generating more than $1 billion in revenues, in 10 countries and spanning 20 industry sectors, to evaluate the strength of corporate water strategies in both water-intensive and non water-intensive businesses.

The researchers found that approaches to water management vary dramatically according to the water intensity of a corporation’s core business, with most firms perceiving water issues as short-term risks and concentrating on compliance strategies. Looking ahead, Verdantix found that most firms intend to secure tangible financial savings from their water initiatives, while a “leading minority” hope to define themselves by targeting stewardship opportunities.

The report is available to Verdantix clients, and to non-clients upon registration.
