by AF 0917h3 — September 19, 2008—Viking Corporation, a global leader in fixed fire protection products and services, has introduced new adjustable versions of its Mirage commercial concealed sprinklers. These new sprinklers are factory-assembled with a brass adjustable drop nipple that provides 1 inch (25 mm) of vertical adjustment. When combined with 1/2 inch (13 mm) cover plate adjustment, the new sprinklers give the installer a total vertical adjustment of 1-1/2 inches (38 mm).
In addition to eliminating the need for a reducing coupling, the new Mirage adjustable concealed sprinklers help ensure proper fit of the sprinkler to the finished ceiling, especially when drop lengths are imprecise. The new sprinklers are also well suited for tenant improvement projects. In instances where a new sprinkler is installed into an existing system, the Mirage adjustable concealed sprinkler may save the time and resources of measuring and cutting a new drop.
The new cULus listed adjustable concealed sprinklers are available in 2.8 (40), 4.2 (61), and 5.6 (81) K factors. The sprinklers are also available with 1 inch NPT male or female thread connections and offer the same temperature ratings and cover plate finishes as the standard Mirage concealed sprinklers. The adjustable concealed sprinklers are also compatible with Viking’s innovative installation tools, which allow for protective cap removal and cover plate installation from the floor, without the use of a ladder.
