by Shane Henson — October 5, 2012—Facilities managers and designers/specifiers for K-12 schools and higher-education institutions can enliven a variety of spaces where students and teachers gather with new seating solutions from Virco.

The furniture manufacturer’s newest collection, called Civitas, is ideal for food service environments, lounges, student unions and related settings, says Virco. Since common areas bring together a diverse range of people with different seating preferences, the Civitas line gives customers three different seating component choices. Whether 18″ seat-height chairs, 25″ seat-height stools, or 30″ seat-height stools are needed—or a combination of these three configurations—customers can choose to outfit their Civitas seating with one of two injection-molded shells or with an individual seat and back.

According to the company, Civitas models can also be equipped with its ergonomically contoured Zuma shell. As Virco’s most popular recently released furniture line, Zuma provides comfortable seating solutions for a wide range of body types. In addition, buyers can order Civitas items with Virco’s generously proportioned Sage shell. For environments where upholstered seating is desired, Civitas models with a Sage shell can be specified with a color-coordinated seat pad, the company adds.

The Civitas collection also includes chairs and stools with an independent seat and back from the award-winning “ZUMAfrd” line. Made from proprietary Fortified Recycled Wood hard plastic, these two-piece components combine effective support with enhanced sustainability.
