by jbs110909d3 — November 11, 2009—A new, one-stop technical guidance Web site for professionals involved in building projects at healthcare facilities was recently announced by the U.K. Department of Health and the three U.K. health organizations–the Department of Health, Social Services, and Public Safety for Northern Ireland; Health Facilities Scotland; and Welsh Health Estates.
“Space for Health,” linked to the Department of Health’s Web site, will bring a whole suite of guidance into one online resource for those involved in the procurement, management, design, and planning of healthcare facilities, including NHS and non-NHS providers. The site will replace the current Knowledge and Information Portal.
Space for Health offers Health Technical Memoranda, which provide guidance for the design, installation, and running of specialized building service systems, and Health Building Notes, which give advice to project teams designing and planning new buildings and adapting/extending existing buildings.
Users will be able to seamlessly shift between different pieces of guidance, and will be able to access nation-specific information, depending on whether their project is in England, Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland, says the Department of Health.
