Webcor Builders and iCrete join to market sustainable concrete on West Coast

by AF 0112 f3 — January 14, 2009—Webcor Builders, one of the largest commercial builders in California, will offer iCrete’s high-performance concrete mixes and quality systems for tall buildings and other major structures on the West Coast under a new agreement between the two companies.

A recognized leader in sustainable “green” building, Webcor earned more revenue in 2007 and 2008 from LEED-rated buildings than from traditional construction.

iCrete, a leading concrete technology company, has signed a strategic use agreement with Webcor Builders, the largest commercial general contractor and largest concrete contractor in California.

iCrete’s performance-designed concrete mixes reduce the amount of cement required, while resulting in a stronger, high-performance product, says the company. Less cement equals less energy and fewer CO2 emissions, which results in a greener, more cost-effective solution. iCrete says it is taking a new and timely approach to improve a building product that has been used for years, which it says will help reduce the impact of construction and infrastructure projects on the environment.

Webcor’s current and completed inventory of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rated projects totals more than 20 million square feet.
