West Coast Emergency Preparedness Center offers emergency preparedness advice

by Rebecca Walker — March 14, 2011— As a result of the devastating earthquake in Japan, West Coast Emergency Preparedness Center is urging citizens, businesses and churches to take disaster preparedness more seriously. It is a well known fact that most people, businesses and churches are not prepared as they should be for an earthquake or major natural disaster, says the center.

What is occurring in Japan is projected to happen in Southern California when the San Andreas fault slips, says the center. Although Southern California has building codes designed to protect buildings during quakes, there are numerous structures that are not up to code.

The West Coast Emergency Preparedness Center urges everyone to take training classes in disaster preparedness, first aid, CPR, Triage and more. Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) are being encouraged to take the Emergency Medical Responder course to bolster their skills. The center offers classes and seminars throughout Southern California and has now stepped up operations to fulfill the demand of requests for such classes and training.
