by Brianna Crandall — February 14, 2011—The Western Area Power Administration and the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) are offering assistance to federal agencies in meeting Energy Policy Act (EPAct) of 2005 renewable energy and Executive Order (E.O.) 13514 greenhouse goals.
Western can solicit RECs for Federal agencies through its Renewable Resources for Federal Agencies (RRFA) program. RRFA coordinates the purchase of renewable energy and/or its benefits for federal facilities with a streamlined purchasing process.
Additional information is available on the Western Web site. Federal agencies interested in assistance should complete and sign the Statement of Intent available on Western’s Web site. Completed forms should then be faxed or e-mailed to Mike Radecki at 406/255-2900 or radecki@wapa.gov no later than May 15, 2011.
A 45-minute Webinar covering key requirements and steps associated with this REC purchase is planned for 10:00 a.m. MST on March 8, 2011. To register, send an e-mail to arockd@wapa.gov or call 720/962-7271.
